Reverb11 Day 20 – 23

Day 20  Friendship – What kind of a friend were you in 2011? What kind of a friend do you want to be in 2012? 

I have definitely been the absent friend when it comes to most people in my life; I just did not feel like socializing or being friendly and mostly stayed away from people.  There is only one friendship I have worked on and that is with my BFF.  We have gotten even closer than before and have been sharing more and spending more time together.

In 2012 I want to try and stay connected to the friends who really are friends and completely drop the ones I don’t need in my life.  Life is too short to spend with people who isn’t worth it.

Day 21  Party Time – Tell us about the “best” party you attended this year. 

Like I said above, I just didn’t feel much like socializing during 2011, so I have said no to so many invitations or simply just didn’t show up when the time for the party came, that I can’t actually remember if I attended any parties this year.  I do miss the party scene and I miss dancing most of all, but I just did not quite feel like celebrating during 2011.

Day 22   Passion – If you could quit your day job and your quality of life wouldn’t change, what would you do?

I would love to quit my job and just become a full time student.  I love studying, even though lately I haven’t been that good at it, but I figure without the stress of having to work full time, and wondering where the money is going to come from to pay for the degree, studying would be my passion.  I want to know everything from accounting to psychology to archaeology and even law.

Day 23  Travel – Did you visit anywhere new this year?  Any plans to travel next year?

I didn’t visit anywhere new but I did go to Cape Town and the West Coast for a couple of days.  I love the Western Cape, it is my favourite part of South Africa and I will never get tired of going there.  I have no idea where 2012 is going to take me, but I really hope I will get to travel some place new.  I definitely need a good holiday.

Reverb11 Day 15 – Passion

Passion: What did you become/continue to be sincerely passionate about in 2011? When you are in the moment doing something you love what does look or feel like?

I have always loved books and reading.  It started when I was a baby and my dad read to me.  I must have read tens of thousands of books during my lifetime, but then a couple of years back I stopped reading as much as I used to and only rediscovered my book mania again in 2010 and am happy that I have carried it over into 2011.

There is nothing better than being completely drawn into a wonderfully written book and having the story become alive in your imagination.  The feeling of leaving your life behind and escaping to another place whether it is the Discworld or an embarrassingly girly Marianne Keyes Irish New York setting, is probably the closest we will ever get to time travelling.   I can read for hours on end and and with my Kindle I am never without something to read.  I have this completely unrealistic desire to read almost everything that has ever been written and am in the habit of buying books faster than I can read them.

For 2012 I would like to focus on my 101 Books to Read before you Die list and try to buy fewer books until I have read the ones I already have.
